LCPAA President message
From the year 2015, I am honoured to be Vice President of Lao Chamber of Professional Accountants and Auditors (“LCPAA”).
The ASEAN Integration and establishment of the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) brings LCPAA to the significant role and challenges in building up the capacity building of Lao Professional Accountants and Auditors in order to be competitive in the free-flow of accountancy services within the ASEAN countries. Indeed, the signed MRA signals to us the need to fast-track our activities in enhancing the capabilities of Lao Professional Accountants and Auditors in preparing them to become regionally competitive.
Looking back on the highlights of 2015 and 2016, LCPAA continues to focus on the following tasks:
As always, looking forward, there are more that needs to be done. Accounting profession beyond borders can play its role towards the success of AEC. The benefits offered from increased harmonisation will help to close the development gap among member bodies in ASEAN.
I am also the President of ASEAN Federation of Accountants (“AFA”) for the term of 2016 and 2017, former Vice President of AFA for the term of 2014 and 2015, I have attended and chaired many AFA Council meetings. All AFA members had the opportunity to join the meetings and discussed in accordance with the agenda and with the theme of ASEAN Economy. With this current development, AFA and the ten Primary Members have received a lot of support and assistance from the six Associate Members, and also from the World Bank. One important step made in 2016 was the AFA and World Bank cooperation in initiating a capacity building Project with the objective of closing the development gaps among AFA member bodies.
Finally, I would like to thank LCPAA President, Dr Phirany PHISSAMAY, for her support and leadership. I also thank you to all LCPAA staff, and all LCPAA members for their commitment support the activities of LCPAA.
