Reform in Lao CPA qualification and training students
LCPAA adopts ACCA syllabus, which is fully in line with International Education Standards, to be used as Lao CPA qualification, after 5 years of CPA program suspension for improvement.
In July 2016, the new CPA training program has started with first 3 papers namely ‘Accountant in business’, ‘Foundations in management accounting’ and ‘Foundations of financial accounting’.
The materials used are in English, but the trainings are conducted in Lao language by 5 experienced instructors on a voluntary basis. More than 200 students participate in this training course.

The LCPAA qualification explained

In order to qualify as an Lao CPA any individual registering on the Lao CP A Qualification is required to complete:
- 14 exams (nine of which are eligible for exemption)
- Relevant practical experience, with a minimum of three years
- complete Professional Ethics module.

Why choose to study Lao CPA?
Lao CPA is the only one that is eligible to practice as chief accountants of public interest entities and large-sized entities (according to the article 58 of the accounting law) and is allowed to establish his/her accounting or audit firm. If you have foreign CPA, you should also become a Lao CPA to be able to practice in Lao PDR. with the new Lao CPA qualification in line with International Education Standards, a Lao CPA who passed through this process would be recognized in the region
