Continuing Professional Development (CPD)
CPD is the learning and development, which enables professional accountants to keep their ethical, technical and business skills up to date in order to boost their confidence and credibility. This would help professional accountants to develop their existing skills and knowledge by following changes in legislation, professional standards, technology and working practice.
CPD is mandatory for practicing members of LCPAA as stated in article 63 of the Accounting Law and article 32 of the Independent Audit Law. All practicing members of LCPAA shall take part in at least 120 hours of educational activities during a three-year cycle with a minimum of twenty hours. Others willing to update their knowledge can also join this CPD training program.
Training course for CPD and awareness on ethics, accounting procedure and taxation have been conducted to make all stakeholders aware of new legislations issues by the Ministry of Finance in order to be in compliance.
LCPAA also organized conferences with supports of other PAOs on ‘Strengthening the accountancy profession with global and regional integration’ (25th October 2014) and ‘Challenges and opportunities for SMEs’ growth in AEC’ (19 February 2016) for Lao accountants and stakeholders to make them aware on the current situation and trend for further development.
